gwen and the flute
OK. so everyone should know gwen outside of pre searing ascalon. You help her out by finding her flute and she follows you around. so now what? is that whole quest ordeal done? Or is there more surrounding gwen and her broken flute that i am missing? I never thought anything of it until recently i noticed going through the rest of the game, and starting a new character, that the flute keeps popping up all over. Can someone tell me if there is more that i am missing and if so, explain it to me?
Thanks |

Well to almost everything it seems as though gwen was once a long part of the who guild wars story but was broken off probably due to some technical problems....
After you return the flute to gwen in pre searin, you let her follow you around and on the way around you may see the red iris flower on the ground and give them to her Can someone take it away I never did the next parts |

You give her enough flowers, she gives you a Tapestry Shred which doesn't do anything now. You could also give her a cape for decoration.
Anet from e-mails and such has said that they'll implement the other parts of the Gwen quest sometime. |

You can give her a flute, a red cape (these 2 can be bought from any merchant in pre as far as I know), and the red iris flowers.
And as they said below, it gives a tapestry shred. What I'm wondering is why the price for the flute and the cape went up? It used to be close to free, 1 gold or if it even was completely free, I can't quite remember. The cape is now 200 gold though, what's that about? Does anyone know why the price went up if it's still useless? Or is it still useless? |

When you give Gwen a new flute she will sometimes play it and heal you for 20 points. Later game you can get a tattered cape, her broken flute, the tapestry shred she gave you and pre-searing, and something else and give those to her mother in the Underworld as part of a quest, though I've never heard of anyone who has done that.

Do Red-Iris flowers stack in your inventory? I haven't tried and currently don't have any on my pre-searing character.

But other then that, I find her an annoyance and would be best suited if she epicly ran into some charr, took two out before getting one between the lookers. </End Gwen Sarcastic remarks> --The Shim |

Didn't play in pre-searing for a very long time already (sticked around there mostly in the betas) but I think there was no changes since then so here it goes:
- You can find the flute no need to buy it but you can buy it if you want it immediatly. - after Gwen has the flute, she plays it and heals you while you are in a battle and she is around (she won't enter the catacombs, caves and some other parts as far as I remember) - you can buy her a cape for 200 gold and give it to her - you need 5 Red Iris Flowers for her to give you the Tapestry Shred - you can find her broken flute after the pre-searing in old ascalon - her Mother Sarah can be found in the underworld and if you have both items with you she would have given a quest to you if it wouldn't be broken (its still broken at the moment) In the last few betas and a while after the release back then, I meet her mother in the underworld in two places: the entrance and later she was together with the other spirits near a underworld village (the way to the second wraith who can port you back to the first one and vice versa). I talked to her back then while I had both items with me and the only thing she told me is that she had a daughter before and she wonders if she is well. Now I saw her at the entrance the last time I was down there and she said nothing. Not sure if she is still on the second place I mentioned above since I didn't came that far with the team I was down there. As about Gwen, there was many topics about her before saying she turned evil after she survived and such but those things are mostly rumours due to her "doings" after one of the betas where she appeared around the towns and burned everything down. She appeared as a ranger but in her saying she would like to be a mesmer too. |

And, as answered earlier if you'd read the post, the tapestry shred does nothing.... yet.
